The Guardian Home process allows us to expand our breeding program and supply great families with a 4-legged family member of their own. We are against puppy mills so the Guardian Home process allows every one of the The Real Doodle Co. 4-legged family members to be part of a loving family and very well taken care of!
We supply the Guardian Home a FREE dog (after submitting the Guardian Home application located at the bottom of this page and are approved) that is part of our breeding program.
Females - approximately two times of breeding and two litters per year. (refer to FAQ at bottom of page for more details.)
Males - used as stud for females. (refer to FAQ at bottom of page for more details.)
THE GUARDIAN HOME’S RESPONSIBILITIES.
Taking proper care of the dog.
Grooming (clean and well taken care of.)
Feeding
All vet care (not breeding related)
Proper exercise
Love and attention (Guardian Home 4-legged family members must live inside.)
The puppy will be microchipped at the expense of The Real Doodle Co.
Must wear collar with dog tags (name of 4-legged family member and Guardian Home’s phone number)
Provide all of the above listed care for the 4-legged family member’s entire life (once the 4-legged family member is no longer able to be bred, the 4-legged family member must be spayed/neutered and is the Guardian Home’s to keep the duration of the 4-legged family member’s life. You cannot spay/nueter the 4-legged family member until The Real Doodle Co. gives permission.)
When your 4-legged-family member is needing to be bred or give birth you can bring her to us or we will pick her up.
If The Real Doodle Co. picks up your 4-legged-family member for breeding/birth the travel expenses will be taken out of what the Guardian Home receives after the puppies are sold.
Track/follow heat cycles
This is very important and we must be updated every time the 4-legged family member goes into heat.
The Guardian Home has the option for the 4-legged family member to give birth at their home or bring her back to our location to give birth and raise puppies. (The 4-legged family member would stay with us one week before she’s due and stay until the puppies are weaned at around 7 to 8 weeks old.)
If the Guardian Home raises the puppies at their home they will receive 10% of all profits made from the litter.
The Guardian Home does not need to find new homes for the puppies. All puppies will be sold by The Real Doodle Co.
If the Guardian Home would like to raise the puppies at their home they would need to contact The Real Doodle Co.. This is based on a case by case basis.
Emergency situations (not breeding related.)
In the case of an emergency (4-legged family member gets hit by car, accidentally ingests something they shouldn’t, broken bones, and/or any other emergencies,) the Guardian Home is responsible for all veterinarian and emergency care.
If the 4-legged family member does die because of an emergency, the Guardian Home is responsible for proper and legal disposal of the 4-legged family member.
Improper care of 4-legged family member
If the dog is not being taken care of properly or we do not feel the home is a good fit for any reason we reserve the right to take the 4-legged family member back at any time.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How many times a year can a female dog be bred?
A: We always go by what our vet says is best, sometimes we breed a female 1 time a year and other times it is 2 times a year. If our vet believes a female needs a break we give her time off and do not breed her.
Q: What can I expect for cost?
A: We give you the dog for free! You are responsible for all normal costs for owning a dog such as those listed above and emergency care. You even have the opportunity to make money by raising the puppies!
Q: What if I live out of state?
A: You can live anywhere if you are getting a female dog! (Males have to be kept within an hour of our home.) You are responsible to let us know when the female is in heat.
Q: Where can I bring the dog
A: You can bring the dog anywhere you’d like as long as it doesn’t risk their health or involve missing a breeding. The dog is yours to care for and be a part of your family!
Q: How old are females until they are done being bred?
A: Every dog is different, we always go by what our veterinarian suggests. Typically this can be anywhere from 5-9 years old. After this point the 4-legged family member will be spayed or neutered (whichever is applicable) at the Guardian Home’s expense.
Q: What if I have to return the dog for any reason?
A: If a Guardian Home needs to return a dog back to The Real Doodle Co. they will forfeit the ability to be a Guadian Home in the future.
Q: Will you watch the dog when I go on vacation?
A: No. You are responsible for finding appropriate care and attention if you need to leave the dog for any reason.
